He led them on a pursuit on the San Gabriel River (605) and Pomona (60) freeways, ending when he crashed into a tree in Whitter Narrows Park along Rosemead Boulevard in South El Monte near 9 p.m., where the carnival was being held. There were no injuries or property damage to the park, said Imee Perius, public information officer for the Department of Parks and Recreation. She said the spring fair was put on by O’ Entertainment and was surrounded by a chain-link fence. She said the chased ended outside of the fence. The car had hit a tree but that the tree was not seriously damaged. SOUTH EL MONTE – A vehicle pursuit by deputies that lasted hours came to an end Sunday night at a carnival in Whittier Narrows Park, authorities said. Sheriff’s Sgt. Ernie Bedoya of the Industry Station said no one was hurt during the ordeal that started around 5p.m. Ruben Guerrero, 32, of Hacienda Heights was spotted by a security guard allegedly trying to break into a car at Fry’s Electronics in the 13400 block of Crossroads Parkway North in Industry, Bedoya said. Deputies later spotted Guerrero in his green Toyota Tundra and tried to pull him over, but he failed to yield, authorities said.
