New university and college graduates who choose to live and work in Nova Scotia can benefit from the new Nova Scotia Post-secondary Graduate Tax Credit. New graduates can use the tax credit to reduce provincial personal income tax by $1,000. The graduate tax credit is not restricted to graduates of Nova Scotia institutions; it is also offered to new graduates of eligible programs across Canada, and in many international locations. “University and college graduates are key to building and keeping a skilled workforce,” said Education Minister Karen Casey. “This is one of the measures we have in place to help us attract, and keep, new graduates.” Recent graduates must apply to receive the tax credit. An application form and additional information can be obtained online at www.graduatetaxcredit.ns.ca , from any Access Nova Scotia location, or by calling 424-5200 in metro or 1-800-670-4357 (toll-free in Nova Scotia).
