Job Summary The Dental Assisting/Dental Hygiene ProgramDirector in collaboration with the Dean of Health Sciences providesthe vision and leadership required to realize the mission of theDental Assisting/Dental Hygiene Programs and the college at large.Primary administrative responsibilities include programdevelopment/management, budget development/management, maintainingprogrammatic accreditation/external partnerships, and providingoperational supervision to full- and part-time faculty and staff inthe department. Instructional responsibilities require a strongDental Sciences skill set and the ability to teach studentseffectively in an instructional environment. The Program Directoris a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching loadwith some administrative release time to carry out administrativeduties.Education Required – Masters’ degree from a regionallyaccredited post-secondary institution. – Graduate of a DentalHygiene program accredited by the Commission on DentalAccreditation. – Current Certified Dental Assisting credential. -Current unrestricted license to practice as a dental hygienist inNorth Carolina.Education Preferred – Masters of Dental Hygiene degreeand/or Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution. -Membership in the American Dental Hygienists Association (ADHA). -Membership in the American Dental Assisting Association (ADAA).Experience Required – 3 years of full-time clinicalexperience in dental assisting/dental hygiene. – 3 years ofexperience teaching in dental assisting/dental hygiene within apost-secondary institution. – Experience with dental technologyprocesses/products such a database management, data analytics, anduse of Electronic Health Record software and Microsoft products. -Experience with direct employee supervision and management. -Experience with dental national accreditation standards andprocedures, i.e. CODA. – Experience with developing and maintainingan effective curriculum to include outcomes assessment and programevaluation.Experience Preferred – Greater than 3 years of full-timeexperience in dental assisting/dental hygiene. – Greater than 3years teaching experience in dental assisting/dental hygiene withina post-secondary institution. – Experience with assessment ofstudent learning outcomes. – Experience with distance learningand/or alternative instructional delivery systems. – Communitycollege teaching and/or administrative experience.
