Kenya set to participate in the 75th session of UNGA virtually

first_imgThe 75th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will commence on 15th September 2020 with most sessions set to be held virtually for the first time.In a statement, the United Nations General Assembly states, “The conduct and format of the 75th Session of UNGA particularly the High-Level segments will be unique and unprecedented. For the first time in the 75-year history of UNGA most of the sessions will be held virtually as the UN takes precautionary measures aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 disease. The High-Level meetings have been scheduled as follows.”The High Level General Debate will start on Tuesday, 22 September 2020, while  the High-Level meeting of the General Assembly to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations under the theme ‘The Future We Want, the UN We Need: Reaffirming our Collective Commitment to Multilateralism’  will take place on 21 st September 2020.Also Read  Let’s work together for the unity and progress of our country, Uhuru The rest of the schedule for United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is highlighted as follows;Get breaking news on your Mobile as-it-happens. The summit, at the level of Heads of State and Government will highlight the need for urgent action at the highest levels in support of a post-2020 global biodiversity framework under the theme: “Urgent action on biodiversity for sustainable development.Other High-Level events are the 25th Anniversary of the 4TH World Conference on Women (1st October, 2002) and meeting to Commemorate and Promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons (2nd October, 2020). first_imgST JOHN’S, Antigua – With the additional two Twenty20 international matches in the upcoming West Indies versus Pakistan series, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has had to make an adjustment to its regional schedule.The match-up between the Barbados Pride vs Guyana Jaguars in Round 8 of the Digicel Regional 4-Day is now scheduled for March 23-25 and 27, because of the T20I match with West Indies and Pakistan which will be played at the Kensington Oval.Operations Manager, Roland Holder, in advising of the change said, “The pitches will be covered by an artificial covering which will prevent damage to either of the pitches during the matches in progress.”Holder went on to explain, the practice has been previously used in the UK where the Sunday League was played alongside First-Class matches and as a result in infrequent times “should not be a problem for either of the matches”.Pakistan open their 7-week tour of the Caribbean with the T20I in Barbados.last_img read more

State offices are also closed.•The Fitness Center and the Wellington Rec Center is closing at 1:30 p.m. Rec officials say they will try to open the fitness Center at 10 a.m. The rec board meeting for Tuesday has been postponed. No makeup date has been made at this time.•All Turning Pointe Studio classes will be cancelled for tonight. •The Wellington Housing Authority will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at noon at the Wellington Capital Manor.•Sumner County schools are out today.
