Criminal permit rights EU rulingOn 7 Mar 2000 in Personnel Today The European Court of Justice has ruled that Turkish employees granted EUresidence permits through the EC-Turkey Association Agreement cannot have theirright to live and work in the European Union revoked, if found guilty of acrime.Judges held that such an expulsion could only take place where it could beshown that “personal conduct is liable to be prejudicial to the publicinterest again.”The ruling follows an attempt by the Municipality of Nuremberg to expel ÖmerNazli from Germany, following his drugs trafficking conviction. The case will be taken to the Bavarian Administrative Court.last_img
